06/06/09 - The office of Pepper and Associates, Inc. will be closed Friday June 12, 2009 to mourn the loss of our founder, Mr. Jerome Pepper, P.E., P.L.S., F.ASCE.
Our founder, Jerome Pepper, Chairman of the Board emeritus and special consultant to the firm, died peacefully on June 6, 2009 at age 84 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The office of Pepper and Associates, Inc. will be closed Friday June 12, 2009 to mourn the loss of our founder, Mr. Jerome Pepper, P.E., P.L.S., F.ASCE. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124, (504) 486-6331, with visitation beginning at 10:00a.m and followed by a Mass at 11:00a.m.
Normal business operations will resume Monday June 15, 2009.

09/08/2008 - Normal Business Operations Resume, Post Gustav
As of Monday, September 8, 2008, Pepper and Associates, Inc. offices located at 2748 Metairie Lawn Drive, Metairie, LA, resume normal business hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST, Monday through Friday.
09/03/2008 - Important Information Regarding the Aftermath of Hurricane Gustav
Pepper and Associates, Inc.'s offices located at 2748 Metairie Lawn Drive, Metairie, LA, were not seriously affected by Hurricane Gustav. As of Wednesday, September 3, 2008, our offices remain without power; Entergy is projecting that restoration of power may not occur until as late as Monday, September 8, 2008.
Immediately prior to to the arrival of Hurricane Gustav, important contact information (including e-mail addresses and cellular telephone numbers) was forwarded to our friends, clients and government officials.
Until such time as power can be restored to our facility, the best, fastest way to contact us is via e-mail, or through this web site. We look forward to the resumption of normal business hours beginning Monday, September 8, 2008.
08/28/2008 - Important Information Regarding the Approach of Hurricane Gustav
Due to the imminent threat of Hurricane Gustav, and due to the uncertainty of the path of the storm (see diagram below), Pepper and Associates, Inc., will begin implementing their hurricane preparedness program on Friday afternoon, August 29, 2008.
Our phone system will remain operational until close of business, Friday, August 29, 2008, at which time we will shut down our switchboard. At 12 noon Friday, we will initiate a controlled shut-down of our local data systems. Shut-down of our local systems will not affect our off-site e-mail servers; during this period; e-mail service will be uninterrupted and we will be continuously monitoring our e-mail.
Monday, September 1, 2008 is the Labor Day holiday; barring unforeseen circumstances, Pepper and Associates, Inc. expects to resume normal business operations on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Until normal business operations resume, the best method of communication will be via e-mail or through this website.
02/28/2007 - Pepper and Associates, Inc. Receives Letter of Appreciation From the Corps of Engineers for Role In Katrina Recovery
The firm of Pepper and Associates, Inc. has been recognized for its role in the logistical and operational support in the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers cleanup and demolition of hurricane damage in Jefferson Parish.

01/24/2007 - Pepper and Associates, Inc. Selected to Provide Continuing Assistance to Jefferson Parish Department of Code Inspection and Enforcement
January 24, 2007 - under the provisions of Resolution No. 107054, Pepper and Associates was requested by the Jefferson Parish Department of Inspection and Code Enforcement to provide the necessary assistance to provide professional services Blighted Property Assessment and Enforcement of properties located in the east bank areas of Jefferson Parish.
07/07/2006 - Jefferson Parish Hurricane Damaged Building Demolition Program Extended Until July 31, 2006
Jefferson Parish homeowners whose primary residence has been severely damaged by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita may be eligible for assistance from the Parish/FEMA in removing their storm-damaged house.
Residents in unincorporated Jefferson Parish and in the cities of Gretna, Kenner, Harahan, and Westwego, and the towns of Jean Lafitte and Grand Isle who cannot remove their damaged house on their own or through other means such as insurance, are being urged to complete and submit a Right-of-Entry/Hold Harmless Agreement form by Monday, July 31, 2006 if they want to be considered for a special private property demolition program that the Parish and FEMA have initiated to continue cleanup throughout the area.
The program focuses on houses that are structurally unsound and pose an immediate danger to public health and safety or other improved property because of damage from hurricanes Katrina or Rita. It does not cover houses that were in a blighted or unsafe condition prior to these hurricanes.
To be considered for the program, interested homeowners must be willing to complete and submit a Right-of-Entry/Hold Harmless Agreement form to the appropriate agency listed below by Monday, July 31, 2006 that grants permission for entities such as Jefferson Parish staff, FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and/or its contractors to go onto a resident’s private property to evaluate and/or remove the hurricane-damaged dwelling.
05/05/2006 - Pepper and Associates, Inc. Recognized by New Orleans International Airport and Engineering News Record Magazine
In 2005 the New Orleans Aviation Board committed to fully rehabilitate its primary runway, the 10,104 foot long East-West Runway 10-28. The runway, because of its length and its navigational aids, is the most important runway in southeastern Louisiana. The design team included a number of local firms, led by Volkert and Associates, Inc. and Pepper and Associates, Inc.

03/09/2006 - Jefferson Parish Hurricane Damaged Building Demolition Plan Approved by FEMA
The plan, entitled Plan for Demolition and Debris Removal from Private Properties, Jefferson Parish, was approved by FEMA on March 9, 2006. Pepper and Associates, Inc., has prepared the public notice of the program currently running on the Jefferson Parish web site, government access channels and local media; and on Monday, March 13, 2006, Pepper and Associates, Inc. has begun the process of collecting the required ownership and right-of-entry documentation from owners of hurricane damaged properties in Jefferson Parish, and has been performing inspections and evaluations of said properties in accordance with the requirements of the approved FEMA plan.
12/21/2005 - Pepper and Associates, Inc. Selected to Provide Assistance to Jefferson Parish Department of Code Inspection and Enforcement
Under the provisions of Resolution No. 104090, Pepper and Associates was requested by the Jefferson Parish Department of Inspection and Code Enforcement to provide the necessary assistance to develop a FEMA approved plan for the identification, evaluation and assessment, and documentation procedures for demolition of hurricane damaged structures within unincorporated areas of Jefferson Parish, and the incorporated areas of Kenner, Gretna, Westwego and Lafitte, and to provide the necessary support for the program implementation and administration.
